Ahead of the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives Sally Kern has renewed her claim that homosexuality has killed more people in the United States than terrorism.

A Christian school in the US state of Connecticut allegedly asked a student to leave because she is a lesbian.
Rachel Aviles, who was about to start her senior year at The Master’s School, a K-12 Christian school in West Simsbury, says she was asked to leave to avoid being expelled.
According to the Hartford Courant, she went on a school trip during the spring in which she and some friends joked around by pretending to be married and holding hands.
When they returned to school, administrators questioned them about their sexual orientation.

Three gay men have been been attacked in the US state of Utah in the last two weeks.
Early on Thursday morning, 32-year-old Cameron Nelson was attacked in American Fork as he took out rubbish at a hair salon.
He was treated in hospital for minor injuries and says his attackers – two or three men – hurled anti-gay abuse at him.
Police in Salt Lake City are investigating another two separate attacks on the night of August 26th.

Republican lawmakers announced last week that they will push for a voter referendum on the issue in 2012.
The state already bars gay marriage but the moves would prevent courts from overturning the status quo.
Although the Public Policy Polling survey found that 61 per cent oppose gay marriage, just 30 per cent said they would vote for a ban.

The governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley as well as the lieutenant governor,  Anthony Brown, have warned that it will be a long fight to win full gay marriage rights with the same legal status as straight married couples but that it is achievable.
Mr O’Malley who is a Democrat will support gay marriage legislation in the Maryland General Assembly.
Speaking at a fund-raiser for Equality Maryland he said: “This is about making sure that every family in Maryland is able to raise their children in a loving and stable home, a home that is respected equally under the law.”
