Website tracks ‘gay homophobes’

Barely a week seems to go by without a new case of ‘gay homophobia’ – that is, professional homophobes apparently caught in the act they claim to despise.
Now, website Gayhomophobe.com tracks the number of days since the latest scandal.
Top of the list right now is Puerto Rican senator Roberto Arango, who apparently posted photos of his naked bottom on gay iPhone app Grindr.

Peter Tatchell: A 12-month blood donation ban is still unjustified

Although the new policy is a big improvement on the existing discriminatory rules, a 12-month ban is still excessive and unjustified. Most gay and bisexual men do not have HIV and will never have HIV. If they always have safe sex with a condom, have only one partner and test HIV negative, their blood is safe to donate. They can and should be allowed to help save lives by becoming donors.
I have been campaigning for 20 years for an evidence-based policy which protects the blood supply while not needlessly discriminating against men who’ve had sex with men.

Poll: North Carolina residents oppose gay marriage ban

A small poll of voters in the US state of North Carolina says that most would vote against a proposed constitutional ban on gay marriage.
Republican lawmakers announced last week that they will push for a voter referendum on the issue in 2012.
The state already bars gay marriage but the moves would prevent courts from overturning the status quo.
Although the Public Policy Polling survey found that 61 per cent oppose gay marriage, just 30 per cent said they would vote for a ban.
